Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Model
Starting April 1st, 2016 CMS will begin the mandatory bundled payment for primary hip and knee replacements. The CJR model will be implemented in 67 geographic areas determined by the Metropolitan Statistical areas (MSA). “CJR model aims to support better and more efficient care for beneficiaries undergoing the most common inpatient surgeries for Medicare beneficiaries: hip and knee replacements” (from CMS website). Despite the new rule, many hospitals will be challenged to meet the new criteria for the CJR model as improvement in quality care, teamwork and infrastructure become center stage for success.
FORCE-TJR QI has demonstrated success serving hundreds organizations in 28 states over the past 4 years.
